Often we see ourselves as separate from the world around us. We subconsciously define "The Environment" as all the things out there that are not us, and that we need protection from. We adopt a defensive, conflict-based attitude towards the world.
Carl Sagan saw the Pale Blue Dot and understood that we are part of the Environment, not separate from it.
Therefore as much as a Good Home is there to protect us from the world, a Good Home must also protect the world from us.
