Contributors, not investors

When we talk about property and money, we talk about property investment. Return on equity. Possibly even property speculation.

What happens when we remove the financial return?

A social business provides the opportunity to shift from property investors, to community contributors. We're no longer commodity traders, but connection builders.

When we choose to forgo any personal financial benefit from our involvement, we can drop the financial language. Completely. Give up the line typically directed at altruistic coordination of our finances which say we 'get a return from our investment by feeling good about helping'. Take the financial language out and simply say we 'enjoy helping to solve a social problem'. We're involved because we care about solving the problem. We contribute financially because we can. We do all of it because we choose to. Other people, and other problems, contribute time, skills, or practical resources. Because they care. And they can. So the choose to.

Instead of investing in our future, could we simply contribute to a better one.
