How we own property makes a difference. The literal legal structures that exist so that you and I can call a place our own affect us on many levels.
In the main, we own our home as individuals or a couple. We have complete control over the patch of dirt we own. We have a mini dictatorship, albeit a regulated one (which is an interesting concept on a national level. But we digress...)
All of us make better decisions when we develop our opinions and approaches together with other people. All of us suffer when required to make decisions in isolation. Our unconscious biases, blind spots, preferences and particular way of seeing and understanding the world are left unbalanced by the input of other people.
